Bishop Andrus’ Letter to Clergy – This letter from October 2006 represents Bishop Andrus’ first formal statement on same-gender unions after becoming Bishop of California. He describes it as the “the beginning – not the conclusion – of our conversation.”

Task Force Report and Study Guide – The Bishop’s Task Force on Marriage and Blessing was the predecessor to the Commission on Marriage and Blessing. The Final Report, from October 2005, describes the work of the Task Force, and the Study Guide, used by congregations in the midst of that work, is still useful for congregational study and dialogue, although it calls for some easily accomplished adaptation and updating.

Task Force Resolutions – These three resolutions were passed by Diocesan Convention in October 2005, and call for: the establishment of the Commission on Marriage and Blessing, the development of resources for catechesis with couples and communities of faith, and the development of rites for the blessing of same-gender unions in the Diocese of California
